Often we celebrate Thanksgiving by focusing on the things that God has given us. However, Amy Gerst, one of Loving Shepherd’s mobilization coordinators, relates how we also can be thankful for the tasks He has given us.
As this week is Thanksgiving, I was reminded of something for which I am very thankful: I am thankful that God chooses to use you, me and all of US to serve the lonely, the unwanted, the poor and the orphaned, as this poem reminds us:
Christ has no body but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which He looks compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which He walks to do good.
Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands; yours are the feet.
Yours are the eyes; you are His body.
Christ has no body now but ours.
No hands, no feet on earth but ours.
Ours are the eyes with which He looks compassion on this world.
Ours are the feet with which He walks to do good.
Ours are the hands with which He blesses all the world.
Ours are the hands, ours are the feet.
Ours are the eyes. We are His body.
Thank you, Amy, for those thoughts. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We are definitely thankful for all of your support this year.
