Thank you for your interest in Faces of the Forgotten: The Orphan Crisis. Loving Shepherd Ministries (LSM), as a member organization of the Christian Alliance for Orphans, is committed to raising awareness among Christians about the global plight of orphans. There are currently 143,000,000 orphans in the world, many of them living in extremely difficult and dangerous situations.

Using cutting-edge Google Earth technology, LSM has developed an effective way to communicate the needs of orphans around the world to the Christian community. The concept of using Google Earth to raise awareness about orphans was first mentioned in the summerl of 2007 during a brainstorming session at Loving Shepherd Ministries’ headquarters in Bluffton, IN. Over the next few months, LSM developed the project and then presented it to the Christian Alliance for Orphans. The Alliance enthusiastically embraced the project and presented it to its members at its 2008 annual conference called Summit IV in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
All the members of The Christian Alliance for Orphans are passionate about orphans and that’s really the heart of this project. We want to convey to as many people as possible the harsh reality faced by many children in the world today and what’s being done about it. It’s our sincere prayer that by raising awareness, thousands, even millions of people, can be encouraged and inspired to make orphan care a priority. Our goal with the Faces of the Forgotten project is to consider the sheer magnitude of 143 million orphans, and look directly into the eyes of an individual child.
